A Brooklyn beehive.Emily S. Rueb/The New York Times

Swarms of honeybees seem to be everywhere in New York City these days — on cars, on trees, outside restaurants — as fast-growing colonies take off in search of new homes.

Experts say the swarms may be a result of the unusually warm weather and the early flowers it brought. Another reason may be that beekeeping has recently become legal and popular in the city and some new beekeepers may not have made their hives big enough to keep up with growing populations.

But even experienced beekeepers cannot prevent them from happening. If you see one, call the swarm hotlines run by NYCBeekeeping.org and the New York City Beekeepers Association. Bees on the move are generally docile, so don’t panic.

Here is an article about the swarming bees. You may illustrate any aspect of the story you wish.
